Our Life Skills program supports participants to build confidence, independence and practical everyday skills through structured, small-group sessions.
The program runs from our dedicated learning centre, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:00pm.
Each day offers a different focus, allowing participants to choose the sessions that best match their goals and interests. Attend one or multiple days each week, with the flexibility to join at any time during the term.
Fresh meals, including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, are prepared daily on site for those who would like them for a small fee, with gluten-free and lactose-free options available.
You’ll also have the option to take part in additional activities on selected days.
The Life Skills Day Program is designed for people aged 16 and over with mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disabilities. Transition journeys are also available for those making the shift to life after school.

The NDIS price covers the cost of support only for the duration indicated and will be arranged through a Schedule of Supports.
The NDIS pricing indicated is an estimate and will be confirmed once the final ratio has been determined.
The Non-Face-to-Face cost covers work that happens outside the direct support session such as content development, reviews and reporting.
A standard cost of $2.50 applies to all participants to cover the cost of course materials and certain activities, which are not covered by the NDIS.
Participants can bring their own lunch or enjoy a meal prepared in-house for a small fee which covers the cost of morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and drinks, all prepared fresh each day. Lactose and gluten free options are available – you may indicated your dietary needs when booking.
For those who bring their own meals, please be aware that we are a nut-free centre – for the health and safety of all participants, please avoid bringing foods that contain nuts.
Shuttle bus transport is available – please choose your preferred options when booking. Shuttle time and cost will be calculated according to your pick up / drop off point.
Bookings can be made at any time during the term.
We do our best to minimise any changes but plans may be forced to change due to external staffing, school holiday programming and adverse weather.

Community Participation & Social Connections
Morning Focus
Monday mornings focus on meaningful community participation through Lids for Kids Australia. Participants will take part in recycling activities at the Community Recycling & Education Centre, providing an opportunity to contribute through volunteer work while experiencing social inclusion and being part of the wider community.
Afternoon Focus
The afternoon focuses on social connections, giving participants opportunities to spend time with others, communicate, participate in group activities and build confidence socially.

Communication & Fitness
Morning Focus
Tuesday mornings focus on communication, including communicating with others and understanding some of the barriers that can make communication more difficult.
Afternoon Focus
In the afternoon, participants will head to the gym for exercise and physical activity, providing an opportunity to support health, fitness and wellbeing.

Volunteering & Social Connections
Morning Focus
Wednesday mornings return to Lids for Kids Australia, where participants can engage in meaningful volunteer work through recycling plastic bottle lids at the Community Recycling & Education Centre.
The program provides an opportunity to contribute to a practical community initiative while supporting social inclusion and participation.
Afternoon Focus
The afternoon focuses on social connections, providing opportunities for participants to interact with others, take part in group activities and build confidence socially.

Mindfulness & Swimming
Morning Focus
Thursday mornings focus on mindfulness. Participants will explore the five points of mindfulness, including being present, focusing on the breath, practising non-judgement, learning acceptance and showing patience with self.
They will also learn about different types of mindfulness practice, explore the benefits of mindfulness and take part in practical mindfulness activities.
Afternoon Focus
In the afternoon, participants will take part in swimming, combining physical activity with an opportunity to support health and wellbeing.

Healthy Living & Cooking Skills
Morning Focus
Friday mornings are spent enjoying a BBQ and time at the park, providing an opportunity to get out into the community, spend time with others and participate in an outdoor social activity.
Afternoon Focus
The afternoon focuses on cooking and food preparation. Participants will practise chopping, slicing and measuring ingredients, safely using kitchen tools and appliances, following step-by-step instructions and understanding recipes.
Sessions will also develop reading and comprehension, everyday maths, planning and organisation through measuring ingredients, adjusting portion sizes, timing cooking processes and preparing ingredients. Participants will explore presentation and creativity while also practising kitchen hygiene and safely handling heat and sharp tools.
