About Kyoto

The city of Kyoto served as Japan’s capital and the emperor’s residence from 794 until 1868. Today it remains as the spiritual heart of Japan and is not to be missed.

Rich in history, the city was fortunate to have escaped total devastation during World War II with many original temples, shrines and structures surviving today.

Kyoto is also well known for fantastic food, art, gardens and culture.
