Welcome to Johnny H Life Skills
For those who are preparing to finish secondary schooling, the transition from a regular weekday routine into adult life beyond school can be challenging.
This new phase in life requires a whole range of skills that many of us take for granted.
Working within a small group and led by an experienced facilitator, Johnny H Life Skills supports both school leavers and adults to build the capacity and skills needed for everyday living.

What our participants say
“I like going shopping for healthy meals. I like baking cakes and bruschetta. I love choosing the recipes and shopping to cook for my family. I learn math, writing, money skills and budgeting. We play The Price is Right sometimes. Johnny H makes feel good and independent.”
– James, Life Skills participant
“I enjoy our “Smart” shopping trips, keeping to my budget and learning where to find items on my shopping list. I can now go down to our local bakery with a list that mum does for me to get what we need for home. I’ve even gone down to the chemist to buy things. It makes me feel good within myself to do these things on my own.”
Ashlee, Life Skills participant
“My goal is to buy a car and be able to drive to Johnny H. I am being assisted by staff to do my Learners practice online. I’m learning about making a budget and how to pay bills. We also do dance one afternoon a week and that is so much fun, keeps us fit and makes me laugh a lot.”
